Once Upon a Christmas part 1

Two cards for you today. 

First one very simple using some diecuts from the Once Upon a Christmas range. I love this range from Uniquely Creative. The colours are so soft.

 

Recipe:

Walnut Stain Distress Ink

Distress Tool

Stardust Stickles 

 

 

Paper is cut to 14.4 x 10 glued flat to the card base. Use a distress Tool to grunge up the paper and apply Walnut Stain to all elements. Gingerbread man is glued to the "Merry and Bright". Die cuts are raised up using foam tape and the "Postal Service" die cut is adding just under the "Merry & Bright"

Next card is slightly harder but still an easy card.. I promise.

With the card in landscape orientation (make sure you have the card round the right way LOL ) measure up the left hand side, make a mark at 3cm and 6cm. Repeat this on the right hand side from the bottom edge. You can discard the middle piece. Keep the bottom piece. 

You will need paper that measures 2.5 x 14.3cm and 4 x 14.3cm. I used the top and the bottom of the selected paper. Before applying the paper cut a piece of acetate that will go the full length of the card base. Glue this down and apply the paper or the top.

Add a note here. Stamp the inside of the card base with a sentiment. If you do this before adding the glitter gel it will make your life easier! Trust me I know! lol

You can position it on the outside of the card where you want it and then open the card up to stamp it on the inside. I may have had to cross a few fingers cos I didn't want to wait for it to dry

Apply the glitter gel on the edge of the acetate making it look like it is dripping down the card base over the window. The gel is a stretchy type of medium, I applied it with a palette knife.

Add glue to the top and the bottom of a diecut, making sure you don't put too much on that it will be able to be seen thru the acetate.

Color Throwdown #611

 Today I decided to have a play with another Color Throwdown this time it is #611. I actually did this one first. I quite enjoyed the challenge and I might have to do some more.

Recipe:

Versamark Embossing Ink and Clear embossing powder

Antique Gold Flat backed pearls (from my stash)

Colours I used were:

Frayed Burlap

Hickory Smoke

Mowed Lawn

Once you have blended your ink to a point you are happy with make sure you wipe off the excess. This will help the embossing go back to its white colour. I don't use a wet wipe unless it is almost dry but even then I mostly use a clean paper towel or micro fibre cloth.

The flat backed pearls were from my stash but I bought them online somewhere a little while ago. Sorry I can't tell you too much about those but use any pearls you have that will match. I used Multi Matt Medium to adhere them. 

Lastly was the Glossy Accents on the HB. There is a few options out there but I have had this for soo long I wasn't about to change. It is still easily available

Darkroom Door Full Bloom

Embossed Resist with Darkroom Door Products today.

I've had this stencil for a while. The best thing about COVID, if there could possibly be, is that it has given us time to think about things we already have. I'm no minimalist but it has given me time to use things I haven't allowed myself to use. Maybe because of work or lack of commitment. In the craftroom, in the kitchen and the house in general.

Color Throwdown is a weekly challenge, where people in the Design team some how come up with color combinations who knows where really! lol

It is, thou, a great resource to look at and use when you want to try something different or out of ideas. It might be just the thing to get your creative juices going again.

 

Mask the area and stamp the roses with Versamark Embossing Ink and heat emboss it with White or clear embossing powder. I reapplied the stencil and blended the below inks until I was happy enough with the blend. Remove the excess ink off the stencil (mostly so I didn't smudge ink where I didn't want it to be, cos if you know me that was going to happen!) and the embossed roses. This will bring the white out again.

I framed the image with a Copic Multi 0.1 Liner. It finishes off the edges  and gives it the sharp look.

Take a Leap

 Today we are going out of the comfort zone and trying something new! Old Technique but I have never tried it!

I am in a facebook group that runs a few challenges to help small Youtube Channels to get more exposure and have some fun.

We did a CASE a fellow creator.

I was paired up with Kelly Parker. Her style is VERY different to mine! Quite mixed media and with vintage photos. Really nice. I thought well this is going to be fun and very different!!

I must admit this was the closest to my style I could get! lol

Bubble wrap I would assume so we went with that! I don't have an octopus stamp anymore so I found some other fish related stamps.

Once Upon a Christmas

 Little Bits Tuesday!

We have a really pretty release today. Uniquely Creative, Once Upon a Christmas. The paper range is so soft and I love it! I love the soft colours.

The Lesley and I split the paper pad and she also got the die cut pack which she gave to me. There were other things I let her keep! LOL

 

Recipe:

A6 white card base 14.9 x 10.5cm

Extra piece at the same size just not a card base.

Red cardstock 2-3mm wide

Die cuts and 1 sheet of matching paper

You will need an A6 card base and an extra piece cut at 14.9 x 10.5cm.

Now, both the card and the extra piece of cardstock are going to be cut the same way.

Have the first piece portrait and from the top left measure across 1 cm and make a mark, do this again going downwards from the same corner, 1 cm and make a mark.

Next, from the bottom right corner measure upwards 4 cm and make a mark.

From the bottom left measure 7cm and make a mark.

Cut from the 1cm on the very top of the panel down to the 4cm mark. I eventually swap this piece around but for the time. You can either cut from the top corner down to the 5.5cm instead of the 4cm.

Next cut with a knife from the other 1cm mark to the 7cm mark. Do this on both pieces and you will use the other piece to hide glue when you adhere the acetate. Sandwich the acetate between the two pieces. This is where I rotated the loose piece around and cut off the excess.

 

I would use thicker acetate if I did it again. Add the strips of thin cardstock to either side of the window. Add your diecuts in whatever manner you wish and add your sentiment.

I would say, make sure you have 2 diecuts of the same large shape. Don't need to be exactly the same picture, just the same size/shape so you can hide the glue on the other side of the window. I only added foam dots to the last diecut the rest are glued flat.

 

Cut a piece of paper for the inside. I made a mistake and had to trim it to be slightly smaller but only slightly. Add your sentiment bottom left and that is all.

Lion in the Jungle

 An old image today but it is more about how to colour a Lion then the actually image. I did find it on ebay a few times.

I stamped the image and the sentiments using Rich Cocoa Momento ink.
